If you asked Romy & Natasha (The husband & wife team behind Romy’s) where they saw themselves in the next 5 years when they decided to purchase the restaurant in downtown Aurora back in 2017, they definitely wouldn’t have said getting back on their feet after a surviving a pandemic. With only opening in July 2019, they were faced with some tough challenges when the world closed down in March 2020. Pivoting to an only take out model proved successful as people were looking for something more than just fast food amidst the vast amount of traditional take out options already available. Keeping true to their values, consistency and quality, they navigated through some of the darkest days of the pandemic while providing delicious and comforting meals to their loyal and new customer base. With the Province’s flip flop opening and closing throughout 2020/21, they decided to stay closed to the public and stay safe in hopes that when the pandemic would finally be declared over, they could open again.

Now, with the “new norm” a change had to be made, with staff shortages and a family of their own to take care of, they once again pivoted and came up with a new system. Offering new ways to serve the public through dine in weekday lunches, as a private event space, providing off site catering and a gourmet to go option.

Chef Romy’s years of experience has been flavoured by cooking for dignitaries, celebrities and working with world renowned chefs. With over 30 years in the food and hospitality industry, if there’s one thing he knows, it’s food and people’s love for it. His passion and love of cooking can be tasted in every dish.
